The Strategic Planning Committee has been hard at work analyzing the rising costs NALSC incurs in putting on the Symposium and Conference, our two annual in-person events. In order to accommodate the ever-increasing number of search firm members, sponsors, supporting members, and non-members who would like to be part of our events, HQ has had to explore larger and often more expensive event spaces. As a result, the Strategic Planning Committee recommended and the Board approved increasing registration fees for both the Conference and Symposium by $100. The Board also approved modifications to sponsor contributions and seat allocation at each sponsorship level, as well as an increase in supporting member dues.
The Committee also looked at the number of seats available to our search firm members at our in-person events. To make sure that our search firm members have ample opportunity to register, we recommended and the Board approved limiting sponsors to the seats allocated to their sponsorship level during the first part of the registration period (“holding period”). During that time, any sponsors, supporting members, and non-members requesting additional seats would join a waitlist. Following the holding period, any available seats would be allocated to the waitlist.
In other news, the Board voted to move planning of our virtual events to a renamed Online Presence Committee (formerly known as the Website and Social Media Committee). Speaking of virtual events, NALSC recently hosted a Recruiting Roundtable on Partner Recruiting (Oct. 23rd), a NALSC Presents on Well-being and Peak Performance (Nov. 20th), and a NALSC Presents on AI’s Transformation of Legal Recruitment and Law Firm Operations (Dec. 10th). Upcoming programs include a January 22nd NALSC Presents on Recruiting Tactics by Tricia Tamkin and Jason Thibeault and a March 26th Recruiting Roundtable on Associate Recruiting.
We look forward to seeing you all at our Annual Conference in New Orleans in February and the Fall Symposium in Austin in September, as well as at future virtual events planned by the Online Presence Committee.
